Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group, invited 50 women from urban slum communities to experience and enjoy the colorful environment provided by the Women’s Premier League. Visiting a cricket stadium for the first time, these women were very excited to be at the iconic Brabourne Stadium of the Cricket Club of India. The women came to watch Gujarat Giants, led by Sneh Rana and mentored by Mithali Raj, take on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
While the occasion was huge for these outstanding women, it also highlighted the fact that the women’s game is on the rise and the big stage didn’t diminish the importance of these special invitees as they loved seeing women cricketers on stage In front of a packed house.
“During the game we could hear some extra voices from the dugout, and when I looked around and saw we had some very talented women in the stands, it put a big smile on my face, and everyone on the team It was also heartening to see that. The initiative of the Adani Foundation to invite such a special and outstanding group of women for the game was a very touching gesture. This evening is something we will all look back on fondly, and it is a Kudos to those who put up well,” said Mithali Raj, mentor and advisor, Gujarat Giants.
