Veteran actress Zeenat Aman on Saturday set Instagram on fire with an old picture of herself. The post is special for more reasons than one. Why are you asking? Because the post not only comes with the date and time details of the picture but also with some trivia. Zeenat Aman revealed in the caption that the black and white picture was taken at the Muhurat ceremony of their 1978 film with Dharmendra, Shammi Kapoor and Hollywood star Rex Harrison – Shalimar, The actress wore a self-designed “stunning silver gown” at the event by Mani Rabadi, a renowned designer of the time. Zeenat Aman further revealed that the “plunging neckline and sleek silhouette” of her gown at the “packaged, high-profile event” definitely attracted some attention. In fact, Mani Rabadi “literally stitched (the actress) into the gown” to master the final look and achieve an “exquisite fit”.
Zeenat Aman wrote, “Some Saturday glam to inspire your evening plans! I saw this image of me floating around on the internet, and thought it would be nice to add some context to it. The year was 1977 and the cast of Krishna Shah’s Shalimar And the crew shot the film at Turf Club in Mumbai. auspicious time gathered for. It was a packed, high-profile event and everyone was dressed to the nines. My stunning silver gown was created by renowned costume designer Mani Rabadi based on my own designs. Its plunging neckline and sleek silhouette definitely caught some attention. In fact, Mani literally sewed me into the gown so that it would fit perfectly.
“We had many international artists present that day, including Gina Lollobrigida. She later dropped out of the production, amid rumors that we had locked horns. British actor Rex Harrison was not at the event, but he was in the film. One day on the sets he told me- ‘A beautiful girl like you should get married immediately’. I had a good laugh at that. And for the record, I think that’s a terrible reason to get married,” the actress said.
Zeenat Aman ends her post by sharing her “exciting” experience of filming Shalimar, she wrote, “Shalimar Didn’t exactly dazzle the audience, but it was a thrilling adventure nonetheless. We shot the film in both English and Hindi, shooting each scene twice.
