Known for his explosive batting, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif was also a gun fielder during his playing days. And even though he retired from professional cricket in 2012, he hasn’t lost his electric abilities on the field. On Saturday, Kaif rolled back the years by pulling off two stunning catches in the Legends League cricket match against Asia Lions. The first was when he dived to his right and took a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss Upul Tharanga.

The second saw Kaif cover a lot of ground before giving Mohammad Hafeez his marching orders with a running dive catch near wide long-off.

The Asia Lions avenged their ten-wicket loss to their opponents in their previous match with a clinical all-round performance to outclass India Maharajas with an emphatic 85-run win. Batting first, scored a mammoth score of 191 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Asia Lions bowled out Bharat Maharaja for 106 in 16.4 overs. The supporters of the Indian maharaja had nothing to celebrate except a brilliant 32 from their skipper Gautam Gambhir.

The architects of Asia Lions’ victory were opener Upul Tharanga, who scored 50 runs in 31 balls with the help of seven fours and a six, and his partner Tillakaratne Dilshan, who scored 27 runs from one ball.
Together they shared an 83-run partnership in 8.5 overs to lay the foundation for a mammoth total.

The Asia Lions will take on the World Heavyweights in the title clash on Monday, 20 March.
