City-based water technology firm Va Tech Wabag Ltd. (Wabag) has bagged an order worth ₹800 crore from the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Dhaka WASA).

The scope of the project includes design, construction and operation for the reconstruction of the 200 million liters per day capacity Pagla Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Pagla in Dhaka city. The operation and maintenance are for a period of 60 months. Depending on the growing needs of the city, the project can be scaled up to 600 MLD in future.

The plant will operate based on the activated sludge treatment process, where it utilizes the biogas generated during the wastewater treatment process, thereby producing the green energy needed to run the plant.

“This project was won against international competition on the basis of our technical superiority and competitiveness,” said Arvind Dulloo, regional business head, South Asia.
