UP electricity department employees end 72-hour long strike after talks with government

Employees of the Uttar Pradesh power department on Sunday called off their 72-hour strike after several rounds of talks between their leaders and state Energy Minister AK Sharma.

The employees, who started the strike at 10 pm on March 16, ended the strike at around 3 pm on Sunday.

Announcing the withdrawal of the strike, Shailendra Dubey, convenor of the Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, said, “There were several rounds of talks (with the government). We raised our problems and the (power) minister positively agreed to fix them. ,

“Respecting the Chief Minister’s (Yogi Adityanath) instructions, positive communication with the Energy Minister, respecting the High Court, we have decided to call off our 72-hour token protest a day earlier in view of the larger public interest. “

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, UP Energy Minister Sharma said, “I thank the employees of the electricity department for withdrawing their protest… I would request them to hand over their duties to their employee friends.” , especially at places where power supply was interrupted, be it feeder or sub-station.”

Sharma said that the committee held several rounds of talks.

“Some points were documented during the talks. We will talk on them and try to take them to a logical conclusion,” the minister said.
