Police scanned the CCTV footage of several locations and used human intelligence to trace the whereabouts of the suspicious persons at Upleta, Jetpur, Gondal, Dhoraji and Jamkadorna.
Eventually the police got the registration number of the bike used by the robbers. However, on verification, it was found to have been stolen from the jurisdiction of Surat’s Khatodara police station. This led the police to believe that someone from Surat was involved in the robbery.
Through sources, the police have got the names of some suspects in this robbery. They had received strong information that the accused would pass between Dhoraji and Jamkandorna and keep watch.
He was taken into custody and during interrogation confessed to the crime. Police also recovered Rs 18.50 lakh out of the total Rs 20 lakh.
Two other accused involved in this conspiracy – Narshi Khandar of Lalpur taluka of Jamnagar district and Dilip Kanjia, who works in Jamjodhpur marketing yard, are still absconding.
