The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 31, will see several stars ruled out of the tournament due to their injuries. The two biggest names falling under the bracket are star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Pant is still recovering from his horrific car accident which happened close to the new year and Delhi Capitals have announced David Warner as their new captain for the upcoming season.

Bumrah, on the other hand, is highly unlikely to come in as the pacer is still recovering from his back injury which has kept him on the sidelines for several months now.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer could possibly be the latest addition to the list. The middle-order batsman was sent for a medical scan after complaining of back pain during the final India vs Australia Test in Ahmedabad and was later dropped from the white-ball series, which going on in mumbai on friday,
As per the updates provided by the franchise, almost all the players will join the KKR camp by March 28 though Iyer’s name did not figure in it. The franchise is currently focused on Iyer’s fitness and he has been advised rest for the time being. His recovery process is also being closely monitored and his reports are also coming. cricbuzz Said that the exact update about this will be known after 10 days.

The report further mentioned that the initial scan results were not found very encouraging and Delhi Capitals like KKR might be forced to look for alternate captaincy options.
In fact, Iyer is not the only player who could miss KKR’s first match against Punjab Kings on April 1. Bangladesh stars Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das will also arrive late after finishing their national duties.
Shakib will be available after the conclusion of the T20I series between Bangladesh and Ireland, which ends on March 31. Liton, on the other hand, will be available after the conclusion of the only Test between the two sides. This match will be played from 4th April to 8th April.
