A case has been registered against a person from a minority community in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district for allegedly praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in a WhatsApp status.

Based on a complaint, a case was registered at Vadgaon police station under section 295 (damaging or desecrating a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, an official said. it was done.

He said that the man had allegedly praised Emperor Aurangzeb on his WhatsApp status and it came to the fore on March 16.

The matter is being probed, the official said, urging people not to post derogatory comments about any religion on social media.
