Ahead of the upcoming IPL 2023 season, RCB legend Chris Gayle revealed the reason why the franchise has failed to better their runners-up finish. Speaking on JioCinema, Gayle explained that apart from the three senior players, the rest of the cricketers in the franchise were never given due attention, which led to their being dropped. “You know sometimes one of the main players is the main man. I am always in my zone. What I understand is when it comes to RCB’s point of view, a lot of players feel neglected. Let’s do it. A lot of players didn’t do that.” I don’t think they are part of the franchise. It was only catching the attention of three players, me, Virat and AB. So a lot of players are mentally nowhere in the team. So it will always be a challenge to win a title”, Gayle said.

The former West Indies cricketer represented RCB from 2011-17. Last season, RCB finished fourth in the league stage with eight wins and six losses. After defeating Lucknow Super Giants in their first playoff encounter, they lost to Rajasthan Royals in their last playoff encounter, failing to book a berth in the finals.
