Mangaluru:
A male passenger on an international flight was caught smuggling gold by hiding it in his 21-month-old daughter’s diaper at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), a Customs release said on Saturday.
The gold was placed in the form of a paste in pouches inside the diapers. However, during the checking, the officials came to know about it.
In another incident, a male traveler had hidden gold in paste form and tied it around his waist like a belt. Another person had gold in the form of a paste hidden in his rectum.
The MIA customs officials seized 1,606 grams of gold with a total value of Rs 90.67 lakh from March 1 to March 15 this year, the release said.
All the three passengers have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
