On June 19, CBSE will celebrate Reading Day with a focus on technology enabled reading. The 25th National Reading Day will be celebrated on 19th June and the next week will be celebrated as Reading Week and Reading Month from 19th June to 18th July, 2020.
National Reading Day is celebrated in the honor of late PN Panicker, the father of the ‘Library Movement in Kerala’, whose death anniversary falls on 19 June.
PN Panicker Foundation has collaborated with the government on reading activities (online) in the wake of COVID-19.
Some of the activities suggested by the Foundation include the Digital Reading Pledge, a webinar on the importance of reading, digital libraries and intellectual property rights, etc.
For students, a quiz, open art, and essay writing/debate competition is suggested and for teachers and faculty members, a quiz and video book competition is suggested.
Interested persons can get more details about the contest on the official website of PN Paniker Foundation.
This year CBSE has asked all schools to celebrate Reading Day, Reading Week and Reading Month virtually.
