Singer Sidhu Musewala’s parents on Sunday attacked the Punjab government, alleging that the crackdown on radical preacher Amritpal Singh was deliberately timed to coincide with their son’s death anniversary.

The hunt for radical preacher Amritpal Singh continued for the second day as the Punjab government extended restrictions on mobile internet and SMS services till Monday afternoon.

The self-styled fundamentalist preacher is on the run after the Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on Saturday and arrested 78 members of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ led by him.

Musewala’s father said that while people have gathered in his native village to pay tribute and offer prayers to the late singer, they do not have access to the internet.

He alleged that people do not have access to internet but gangsters in jails have.

He also claimed that gangsters like Lawrence Bishnoi were roaming freely, as he cited from one of his recent TV interviews. He said, “When he (Lawrence Bishnoi) came on TV, I felt like my son had died again.”

Balkaur Singh reiterated that the alleged mastermind of his son’s murder is still absconding.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Musewala, was shot dead on May 29 in Mansa district of Punjab.

His death anniversary was already celebrated.

Balkaur Singh and his wife Charan Kaur staged a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly complex in Chandigarh earlier this month demanding justice for their son.

“Don’t force us to sit outside the assembly gate again. What is our demand after all? It’s just that the mastermind of the case should be punished.
