Dr Garg says, “When the liver is not functioning properly, toxins (ammonia) that are normally flushed out of the body can accumulate in the bloodstream, causing mental changes such as confusion, disorientation and loss of memory could be a problem.”
Liver cirrhosis is a serious disease that can result in liver failure, liver cancer and even death. Treatment may involve addressing the underlying cause of the disease, taking medications to control symptoms and complications, and, in some cases, undergoing a liver transplant.
