Lucknow:

A police sub-inspector and three constables have been suspended for allegedly taking an undertrial prisoner to a shopping mall. Officials gave this information on Friday.

A statement from the Lucknow Police Commissionerate said SI Ramsevak and constables Anuj Dhama, Nitin Rana and Ramchandra Prajapati were suspended for dereliction of duty.

Police officials said that one Rishabh Rai was arrested in an Arms Act case and sent to jail in June last year. Rai complained of some health problems and the court allowed him to visit a government hospital on 7 March.

He said police personnel have been deployed to take Rai to the hospital and bring him back to jail after medical examination.

While returning from the hospital, the accused policemen took her to a shopping mall, officials said.

A video of Rai at the mall went viral on social media, following which an inquiry was ordered against the police personnel.
